26th January 2017

What a week! In our separate year groups we have had lots of different experiences. The Year 5s spent an afternoon with the Cheshire Fire and Rescue officers who taught us all about fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire. We have all drawn up fire plans for our houses in order to help keep our families safe. We even got to experience part of how it must feel to be in a fire by spending some time in a smoke tent. Year 5 also found out what they would be doing at Winmarleigh Hall next month! We'll be doing lots of high ropes activities, fencing, the giant swing, archery and much more. Now to decide who we're sharing a dorm with...!

In maths we have been finding fractions of quantities. It's tricky stuff but we used the lessons from our growth mindsets assembly and embraced the challenge! In English we continue to learn more about Bradley Chalkers in the novel, There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sachar. We have written an extended report about this interesting character.

As well as this we have started to find out about the many diverse African countries, played cricket, learnt some more French vocubulary and played French games and done some fun experiments to help us learn about how sound travels.
