This week's science investigation in White Class February 2016

Lesson: Science

Class: White Year: 2015 - 2016

How does surface material affect the distance a toy car can travel?

White class had a great time this week predicting which material would cause the least amount of friction and which would cause the most. They asked questions about how this would affect the distance a toy car would travel and tested their theories by making ramps for the cars to travel down and used tape measures to measure the distance travelled in cms. They learnt about why it's important to keep some things the same when carrying out an experiment or investigation and they recorded their results in a block graph.

Which material do you think caused the most friction, and which the least?

Choose from; fabric, bubble wrap, vinyl, wood, corrugated card, paper, sand paper and carpet.
